Lennon confident St Mirren will climb tablePublished on Friday 23 November 2012 00:25 Danny Lennon has no fears about St Mirren’s ability to drag themselves out of the relegation zone as they prepare to host bottom side Dundee. Last weekend’s 1-0 defeat against Hearts means Saints have now lost six SPL games in a row and sit just a single point ahead of tomorrow’s opponents. Lennon admitted after the reverse at Tynecastle that his side are now in a relegation battle right. But the Saints manager is confident they will no longer be in such a precarious position come the end of the season, when it really matters. He said: “I’m not worried at all. We’ve got 24 games still to go, it’s a marathon. I know what I’m going to get from the players most weeks. “Four of those six games could have gone either way so we are not far away performance-wise. “Last week, we showed great fighting spirit in being difficult to beat and a deflected goal was the difference between the two sides. With the players, my staff, the board and the fans all being as one, we will be stronger and more difficult to beat and, hopefully beginning on Saturday, we can start to climb that table again. “We certainly believe we are sitting in a false position at this minute in time but the table doesn’t lie. I feel that we have the quality to progress up the table.” Taken from the Scotsman |
