Hearts hold aces, insists Templeton

HIS final contribution as a Hearts player or the start of a new chapter of his career at the club?
David Templeton celebrates his goal at Anfield last night, but could it be his last for Hearts?

No sooner had David Templeton lashed in the goal that gave Hearts fleeting hope of pulling off a Europa League surprise last night than he was being asked to comment on the likeliness of him leaving Tynecastle.

The winger's 84th-minute strike at Anfield looked like earning Hearts extra-time against Liverpool before Luis Suarez responded with a goal of his own. Templeton's contribution, however, was a reminder of his worth, with Rangers having yesterday reportedly offered less than £1m for both him and Hearts colleague Ryan McGowan.

"I am happy here but if Hearts say 'yes' it is something I will have to think about," Templeton said. "It will be a dilemma. I have played in the third division before and I want to go up the way but Rangers are a massive club and if Hearts want to make money from me then it is something I would have to think about. The club have the biggest say in what happens."

Ally McCoist wants Templeton and McGowan to be two of six new signings before the window closes at 11pm this evening. As well as the Hearts duo, the Rangers manager has been credited with an interest in Cammy Bell, but the Kilmarnock goalkeeper is not at the forefront of his mind. "We've got to get bodies in and David is one we're really keen on," McCoist said. "Cammy is injured just now, although that wouldn't stop us, but he's somebody else's player."
