Alan Maybury set to make Hibernian debut against former club Hearts

STV 10 August 2012 14:56 BST

Hibernian have added former Hearts defender Alan Maybury to their squad, after the full-back completed a successful trial.

The former Republic of Ireland international has spent the last month at Easter Road, and has been rewarded with a one year contract.

Maybury spent last season at St Johnstone, and now hopes to make his Hibernian debut against another of his former clubs on Saturday.

The 34-year-old told the Hibernian website: "I'm pleased to sign for Hibs. The past five weeks have been really enjoyable and now I want to help the team to kick-on and experience some success.

"It is part of the twists and turns of football that my Hibs debut could potentially be against Hearts, where I experienced three-and-a-half great years.

"That's a challenge that really excites me and, if I'm given an opportunity, I will look to use my experience to help Hibs record a victory."

Pat Fenlon was also pleased to secure the defender, hoping he can add experience to Hibernian's youthful squad.

He said: "Alan is a player who will add experience and versatility to the squad and I'm pleased to be able to sign him.

"He will help the development of our young players while also making a positive contribution on the pitch."
