St Johnstone boss blasts ‘stupid’ Gregory Tade after Tynecastle red card

St Johnstone boss Steve Lomas refused to defend striker Gregory Tade after the striker saw red in the 2-0 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle.

The Perth side already trailed to John Sutton’s penalty when the former Inverness CT forward appeared to clash with Andy Webster.

Lomas said Tade was ‘stupid’ to get involved before adding that he would speak to the player this week.

"The sending off is not in debate, Gregory is stupid," he said.

"Of course there is a club punishment, you can't go around doing that. I've made mistakes myself in the past and Gregory will have to learn the hard way, obviously it hurt us but I would rather focus on the positives."

Hearts boss John McGlynn praised Saints’ approach in the second half and Lomas was prepared to take positives from their display.

"I thought we played very well in the second half, I thought we were the better team and we had three great chances at 1-0," he said.

"I commend my players for the positivity in the second half, especially the first half an hour. I asked the boys to stay in it as long as we could and we would get chances. We did but we didn't take them."
