Hearts duo Ian Black & Suso Santana brush off Leigh Griffiths' moansMay 21 2012 HAMPDEN heroes Ian Black and Suso Santana last night taunted Hibs rival Leigh Griffiths after Hearts’ Scottish Cup Final romp. The Tynecastle duo were key men as the Jambos destroyed their Edinburgh rivals 5-1. And Hampden star man Black yesterday hit back at Griffiths’ post-match claims that he should have been red-carded for an early challenge on the Hibs hitman. The Gorgie midfielder clattered into Griffiths during an aerial joust and his arm crashed into the face of his opponent. Referee Craig Thomson didn’t book Black for it and, having later red carded Hibs fall guy Pa Kujabi for two yellows, Griffiths said: “The referee killed the game. “Even Pa’s first yellow is never a booking, it’s a fair challenge. “If Pa is getting booked for that then what does Black get for elbowing me in the face? “The gaffer said that Blackie should have been sent off for his challenge on me.” Black, however, was having none of Griffiths’ complaints. He said: “It wasn’t a bad challenge. If you watch the telly, I never took my eye off the ball and he just happened to get in the way. “If I’d caught him the way he said I’d caught him, he wouldn’t have been on the park. “The wee man just doesn’t like getting kicked. “He can say what he wants but we are walking away with winners’ medals. I stayed on the park and got a standing ovation so that’s the end of that conversation.” Griffiths also moaned that Santana dived to win the spot-kick that led to Kujabi’s second yellow. But Santana said: “Hibs say it wasn’t a penalty? Okay, no penalty. We still would have won 4-1. “Even without the penalty Hearts would still have won. For me, though, it was a penalty.” Taken from the Daily Record |
