HEARTS have told midfielder David Obua that his contract will not be renewed at the end of this season.
The Ugandan international’s current deal runs out in the summer but has been informed that he is surplus to requirements at Tynecastle.
Obua has fallen out of favour with boss Paulo Sergio in recent months and his last appearance for Hearts was in the 2-0 defeat to Dundee United back in February.
Although Obua, who was signed for Hearts in 2008 by Csaba Laszlo, was originally brought to the club as a left-sided midfielder, he was also used at left back, up front and in the centre of midfield.
In 96 appearances for the Tynecastle men, Obua scored six times for the Jambos, including a last-minute winner against Hibs at Easter Road last season.
A spokesman for the club said: “We’d like to thank David for his services to the club during his time with us and wish him well for the future
Meanwhile five other young players – Matthew Park, Chris Tobin, Ryan Stewart, Aaron Murdoch and Colin Hamilton – have also been told that they will have to find new clubs come the summer.
