WREXHAM SWOOP FOR OGLEBY01/02/2012 In a busy finale to the January Transfer Window, Andy Morrell, player-manager at Blue Square Bet Premier side Wrexham, swooped to sign ex-Hearts frontman Rob Ogleby with just hours to spare. Born in Coventry, the 20-year-old (pictured) began his career with his hometown club before moving north of the border in the summer of 2010. While at Tynecastle he became an established member of Brian Flynn's Welsh Under-21 squad and scored in the 2-0 win over Northern Ireland here at the Racecourse last February. The 6'1" striker spent the first-half of this season on loan with East Fife netting twice goals in 14 games for the Scottish Second Division side. Having finalised his departure from Hearts on Tuesday morning, he then jetted down to Birmingham Airport where he was met and driven across to Wrexham to sign the necessary paperwork on a three-month deal. "With Danny Wright's injury, we've been looking to bring in another striker and Rob certainly fits the bill," commented Morrell. Ogleby's contract has been supplied to both the FAW and Football Conference, who will begin the process of obtaining his International Transfer Certificate (ITC), which would be the last step of the procedure. All the paperwork was lodged before the 11.00pm deadline in order to satisfy the relevant footballing authorities. http://www.nonleaguedaily.com |
