Keeper pledges future to Hearts
30.01.2012
Rising star Mark Ridgers has become the latest player to pledge his future to Hearts.
The Scotland U21 international goalkeeper put pen to paper on a new two-year contract today, keeping him at Tynecastle until the end of season 2013-14.
Mark has been with the Jambos since April 2007, signing for the Edinburgh club from Ross County as a 16-year-old.
Highly rated by the Gorgie outfit, he made his international debut for Billy Stark's side in November when he helped Scotland pull off a shock victory over Holland in Nijmegen in their European Championship qualifier.
Mark has yet to make his top team debut for Hearts but benefited hugely from a loan spell at East Fife earlier this season, being named the Irn Bru Phenomenal Young Player of the Month for September. His heroics in a penalty shoot-out against Aberdeen in the third round of the Scottish Communities League Cup at Pittodrie sent the Dons spinning out of the tournament.
The keeper becomes the second goalie in recent days to extend his stay at Tynecastle, Jamie MacDonald having signed a similar length of deal on Friday.
