Spirit was key New cap Mark Ridgers has praised the team spirit of Scotland U21s after the the young lions stunned Holland in their European Championship qualifier in Nijmegen last night. Goals from Jordan Rhodes and David Wotherspoon secured a memorable triumph over the Dutch and kept alive Billy Stark's hopes of advancing from Group 10. Hearts ace Mark, currently on loan at East Fife, pulled off a number of fine stops on his international debut after the hosts were gifted a first-half equaliser when the big keeper was deemed to have carried the ball over his own line. "I need to learn from these games and I felt I did quite well. I made a few good saves and remained positive," he said. "These things happen in football and it was about how I recovered. As soon as it happened I tried to block it out as it was an important game. "The team spirit is brilliant and you can see how hard the boys work for each other." Hearts World |
