Ian Black must be less aggressive if he wants career to progress, says Kilmarnock boss Kenny ShielsOct 30 2011 Euan Mclean, Sunday Mail ian black KENNY SHIELS has told Ian Black to cut out the dangerous tackles that threaten to hold back his career. The Hearts ace saw red for a reckless lunge on Shiels' son Dean that set the tone for a bad-tempered clash at Tynecastle. And the Killie gaffer claimed he expected Hearts to lose discipline. He said: "The bad temper was only coming from one side. "Black is a fantastic player but has to take the negatives out his game if he wants to progress his career. "We know Hearts are the most aggressive team in the league and that we had to stand up to them. We were ready for a battle. "I told the guys not to get involved in aggression or react if they were fouled. We were sort of expecting that kind of game. "I'm happy we won but I'd be a hypocrite not to pick fault. We were a bit slipshod and I'll address that. " While Paulo Sergio was sent to the stand for his protests about ref Alan Muir, Shiels said: "The ref must protect players and I felt he had a fantastic game. But we showed courage by not getting involved." Taken from the Daily Record |
