Ludwigsfelder 0-4 Hearts Hearts picked up in Germany where they left off against East Fife with another convincing pre-season victory. Two goals from David Templeton and one apiece from Danny Grainger and Mehdi Taouil saw the Jambos comfortably overcome Ludswiger FC. Hearts started with a strong team against the German lower league outfit . John Sutton came close on 9 minutes after rounding the 'keeper, but the Ludwigsfelder stopper recovered well to smother the striker's effort. On eleven minutes Stevenson's chipped effort fooled the 'keeper, only to be headed off the line by an alert German defender. Webster was next to threaten for the Jambos after 16 minutes, rising to forcefully meet Novikovas' corner, but failing to keep his shot down. Webster should have opened the scoring on the 20 minute mark after another Novikovas corner, but somehow tapped the ball wide. Robinson came even closer a minute later, seeing his long range drive clip the cross bar. The German 6th tier outfit were proving a tough nut to crack, limiting Hearts to a wayward Jamie Hamill effort from ranger over the next ten minutes. The local side seemed to grow in confidence as the half went on, and looked more than comfortable in keeping possession. JJ made four changes to his side at half time. Off went Webster, Zaliukas, Robinson and Sutton. On came McGowan, Mrowiec, Templeton and Gordon Smith. The deadlock was broken ten minutes after the break. Just as he did at East Fife on Tuesday, Danny Grainger stepped up and rifled in a left footed free kick from 20 yards, leaving the 'keeper helpless. Novikovas fashioned himself a good shooting opportunity on the hour mark, but blazed over after some good skill down the right hand side. David Templeton doubled the Jambos' advantage on 64 minutes, cutting inside and lofting the ball over the Ludwigsfelder 'keeper from the angle of the box. The winger clearly fancied his chances after that, although another long range effort with just less than 20 minutes remaining flew wildly wide. Gordon Smith found himself clean through on goal moments later, and was unlucky to lift his effort over the bar as well as the on-rushing goalkeeper. Grainger was nearly at it again with 16 to go, thumping a low free kick off the right hand post after a foul on Gordon Smith. Mehdi Taouil got off the mark for the Jambos with five minutes left. Holt and Templeton linked well down the right, before the diminutive midfielder laid the ball off for the ex-Killie man to lift over the goalkeeper and in. Barely two minutes later Templeton had his second and Hearts fourth, sending a low volley in to the corner in spectacular style to round of the scoring. Hearts World |
