DAZED Eggert Jonsson set Hearts on their way to victory - but ended up thinking they'd LOST after suffering a head knock.

The Icelandic ace fired home a cool penalty to open the scoring against Millwall before Liam Trotter levelled.

Jonsson clashed with Lions frontman Steve Morrison just moments after Ismael Bouzid went down with a suspected fractured skull following a challenge with the same player.

Jonsson failed to reappear after the break and sat out the match in the dressing-room where he tried to listen to the supporters.

He heard the home fans celebrate Trotter's second goal - but didn't realise Craig Thomson had won the match for Jim Jefferies' men with a brace of brilliant free-kicks.

He said: "I felt dizzy at half-time so decided to go off. When I was in the shower I started throwing up and was sick about four times.

"It was a delayed reaction to the incident. I couldn't even tell you what happened.

"I just remember going up for a header and taking a knock. I felt a groggy but played on.

"I don't think the other player can be blamed. I didn't see what happened with Bouzid either, I just saw him lying on the ground.

"It was the right decision to go off but it was funny, I only heard the cheering for their goal so assumed we had lost 2-1.

"But I realised when the guys came back in we'd actually won the game so it completes our trip to England with two wins."

Hearts were the first Scottish team to visit the Den since Hibs played a pre-season friendly against the South London side 21 years ago in a 1-1 draw still remembered in these parts for some serious crowd trouble.

It was fitting given the Lions' roots - they were founded by jam-making Scots back in 1885 - that it was the Jam Tarts providing the opposition for Neil Harris' testimonial match.

Around 1000 travelling fans made the trip and made themselves heard on an emotional occasion for Harris, skipper for the afternoon.

The 33-year-old has notched up a decade 33-year-old has notched up a decade of service and eclipsed Teddy Sheringham as the club's all-time marksman with 135 goals.

And this is a man who fought back from testicular cancer to continue a career that saw him touted for a Scotland call during the Craig Brown era.

This was a step up for the Jambos after friendlies against Dunfermline and Gillingham.

And they looked up to the challenge as they grabbed the lead after just 11 minutes. Paul Robinson brought down Lee Wallace as the Hearts man burst into the box.

Jonsson showed great composure with a cool side-footed finish low into David Forde's net. Hearts lost Bouzid on the half-hour mark, flattened in an aerial challenge with Morrison.

After six minutes' treatment he was stretchered off to the applause of a worried crowd.

Hearts conceded an equaliser just before half-time - nobody picked up Trotter as he headed home unmarked from James Henry's corner.

Millwall took the lead nine minutes into the second half, Henry again crossing for Trotter to head home. But Thomson took centre stage with two quite spectacular free-kicks to earn victory.

The first curled over the wall and off the underside of the bar after Robinson's foul on Templeton then another stunner three minutes from time cannoned in off a post.
