Obua and Temps net goals to secure Accies winFrom Hearts News at Tynecastle StadiumThe sun shone brightly for Hearts as they recorded a 2-0 victory against Hamilton at Tynecastle, this afternoon. David Obua and David Templeton scored the goals to habe the home side a deserved victory. It wasn't the most memorable of matches but Jim Jefferies and the Hearts fans won't mind too much as the Gorgie side now sit in 6th place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League, five ahead if Aberdeen. The home side were forced to make two changes to the side which beat Falkirk 3-2 last week. Gary Glen and Ian Black missed out through injury so Calum Elliot made his first start for the club since May last year and Jason Thomson filled in at right back with Eggert Jonsson sitting just in front of the defence. The match started brightly for the home side, Ryan Stevenson had a long range effort go over the bar, Suso Santana put an awkward ball into the box which Hamilton's Tomas Cerny pushed behind for a corner. Hearts were trying to create attacks but Hamilton were defending well and not sitting back. The away side's first real effort of the game fell to Flavio Paixao in the 21st minute. The Portugese midfielder shot from just inside the box, but his effort went wide of Marion Kello's goal. Hamilton came close a few minutes later, with the same player being involved in the action. Flavio Paixao crossed a brilliant ball in from the left hand side, but luckily for Hearts it was just in front of James McArthur, if the youngster connected it was almost certainly a goal. Both sides were trying to push forward but neither created many chances and the game was open for wither side to score, though it was hard to see where it would come from. In the 31st minute Hearts won a corner following good play from Lee Wallace down the left. Santana swung a brilliant ball in to the head of Zaliukus, however the Lithuanian's header went over the crossbar. Hearts very nearly scored in the opening minutes of the second half, Callum Elliot had the ball in the six yard box but he slipped and the ball got caught under his foot, he attempted to shoot whilst on the ground and his shot was blocked into the path of the oncoming Lee Wallace, his effort however, went over the bar. The home side were forced to make a substitution with David Templeton replacing the injured Suso Santana in the 47th minute. Templeton almost made an instant impact on the match when he got the ball in the middle of the park and skipped past a couple of Hamilton players before being brought down just outside the box. Ryan Stevenson stepped up to take the free-kick but his effort went wide of the goal. The second half certainly started livelier and Hearts had another great chance in the 57th minute when a long ball from Kello was chased by Novikovas earning Hearts a corner. Novikovas played a ball into the box which was flicked on by David Obua to Jason Thomson at the back post but his header went wide of the target. Hamilton went straight up the park and again it was Flavio Paixao who was involved in the action. The Hamilton player's shot was blocked well by Kello and the Slovakian was up quickly to smother any danger. In the 63rd minute the ball eventually found its way into the net and it was for the home team. A long ball up the park was chased by Ryan Stevenson, he played it in from the right hand side to the head of David Obua who headed home for his first goal of the season The goal didn't stop Hamilton pushing forward and they caused confusion in the Hearts box a few minutes later. Zaliukus was under pressure at the back and passed a strong and awkward ball back to Kello, the keeper reacted well and managed to clear the ball, much to the relief of the Hearts captain. The away side continued to press Hearts and in the 74th minute Jason Thomson did well to block Marco Paixao's run down the right side with a well timed tackle putting the ball out for a corner. In the 79th minute Tynecastle was celebrating again but the goal scorer will have to be decided with a TV replay. A long ball over the top found David Templeton, the substitute tussled with Hamilton's Brian Easton and Easton played the ball over his keeper, both players continued to chase and Templeton hit the ball into the net but whether it was already over the line or not was hard to tell, though David Templeton wasn't caring as he ran off to celebrate. Hamilton may have been two goals down but they weren't giving up. Brian Easton unleashed a ferocious shot from 20 yards out which went straight to Kello who saved without knowing too much about it, if the ball had gone to the other side of Kello it would have been unstoppable. Larry Kingston made an appearance as a substitute and almost got his name on the score sheet, however his long range effort was easily held by Tomas Cerny. The midfielder appeared determined to mark his return to the team with a goal and another long range effort looked to be goal-bound but went just over the bar.
