Hearts 1-1 Celtic

A SCREAMER from Bruno Aguiar put the brakes on Celtic's title charge.

The Hoops drew first blood when Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink fired home with just 23 seconds on the clock.

But it wasn't enough to secure a win for the champs after Aguiar slammed home a long-distance free-kick.

Jambos midfielder Michael Stewart was instrumental in his side's recovery.

And the man-of-the-match was left kicking himself at Celtic's dream start.

He said: "We’ve conceded quite a few goals early on and we’re bitterly disappointed to have done it again today.

"It was just an unfortunate mistake from Janos [Balogh] that allowed them to go one up."

Celtic got off to that incredible start when Vennegoor of Hesselink volleyed home his third goal in eight days.

Balogh got down to the Dutch ace’s volley – but the hapless stopper fumbled it into the corner.

The hosts rallied and forced a string of corners, with Marius Zaliukas blazing a header over from six yards.

Vennegoor of Hesselink then almost doubled his tally – but the hitman saw his header cannon off the outside of the frame.

Celtic were looking comfortable until they were rocked by Aguiar’s spectacular 32nd-minute leveller.

Michael Stewart won a foul 30 yards out and Aguiar curled the free-kick over the wall and past Artur Boruc.

After crocked captain Stephen McManus failed to make the second term, Gary Caldwell moved to the back – and immediately found himself under pressure.

Zaliukas shot inches wide after surging forward before Aguiar volleyed over.

At the other end, the Jambos got lucky when Calum Elliot went unpunished after appearing to parry Shunsuke Nakamura’s strike with his hands.

Hearts still had the edge, and Zaliukas looped over after winning Aguiar’s dead-ball centre.

Koki Mizuno replaced Aiden McGeady late on – and nearly linked up with Japanese pal Nakamura to forge a winner for the Bhoys.

Nakamura’s curling effort was forced just wide by a brilliant block from Zaliukas, before Mizuno blasted wide after a long throw fell perfectly for him 12 yards out.
