Frail returns to the game as coach of Celtic U19s

FORMER Hearts manager Stephen Frail has returned to club football after joining Celtic as under-19s coach.
Frail left Hearts last summer after taking charge of the first team on New Year's Day last year, when he was appointed acting head coach.

He will begin his new role when Celtic Under-19s face St Mirren today.

The former Hearts full-back will work alongside Celtic's head of youth, Chris McCart, and assistant coach Miodrag Krivokapic.

"I'm really excited to be given this opportunity at Celtic," Frail told the club's website.

"I will be working with the best young players in the country, and that is something which really excites me.

"I love working with the younger players and I see this as a big challenge.

"The youth structure that has been put in place at Celtic is second to none. Tommy Burns did a lot of great work, and Chris is now carrying that on.

"I'm keen to help him and hope we can achieve a lot of success, and continue to produce players capable of playing in the Champions League."

Most recently, Frail has been working for the Scottish Football Association as their youth initiative co-ordinator, on a six-month contract. He made no secret of his desire to return to club football.

"I'm really thankful for this job (with the SFA], and I will give it 100 per cent between now and whenever other opportunities come," he told The Scotsman in January. "But my employers know that I want to get back into coaching.

"I wouldn't say at any club. I don't want to be part-time, for example –I think I've proved I can work at a higher level than that, and I don't want to go back down the way."
