Marius Zaliukas incurs an extra ban

Marius Zaliukas, the Heart of Midlothian striker, has been banned for four matches. The Lithuanian was sent off for violent conduct after a second-half clash with Carl Finnigan, a Falkirk substitute, during Saturday’s Homecoming Scottish Cup fifth-round defeat at Tynecastle.

Zaliukas, 25, was handed an automatic one-match suspension for the straight red card during the somewhat surprising 1-0 setback, but an accumulation of disciplinary points has resulted in a further three-game ban.

In addition to this weekend’s Clydesdale Bank Premier League meeting with Aberdeen, Zaliukas will also be sidelined for the upcoming matches against St Mirren, Dundee United and Motherwell — but will be available again for the Edinburgh derby encounter with Hibernian at Easter Road on March 14.
