Balogh back between the sticks as Hearts tackle Falkirk

BARRY ANDERSON
JANOS BALOGH will return in goal for Hearts tomorrow with boss Csaba Laszlo declaring him his undisputed first-choice.
The Hungarian's protracted transfer from Debrecen was finally concluded on transfer deadline day and he will resume goalkeeping duties from Jamie MacDonald for the Scottish Cup fifth-round tie with Falkirk at Tynecastle.

MacDonald has deputised for Balogh in Hearts' last three matches as a neck injury and then the delay in completing his transfer rendered the 26-year-old unavailable.

He is now fully fit and Laszlo told the Evening News today that he will be reinstated against Falkirk. "Balogh is the number one and he will be in the goal tomorrow," said Laszlo.

"He has been very focused for the last two weeks and has waited for his transfer to go through. He was a little bit injured in the first week but now he is 100 per cent and he will be staying in the goal."

Christian Nade suffered a slight knee injury at training yesterday but Laszlo expects him to play. Larry Kingston is likely to be rested and has been given permission to return to his native Ghana for treatment on a nerve problem in his thigh.

"Christian had a problem training inside in the astrodome but he is fit," said the manager.

"Larry is not fit and we will give him the chance to fly home to see doctors in Africa.

"But Ruben Palazuelos is back so now we have some options in midfield."

The manager has pledged to adopt an attacking approach for the cup game and is considering returning Christos Karipidis to centre-back from midfield following Christophe Berra's departure.

"This is one option because Karipidis has played central defence many times before," he continued. "He is definitely an option, and Eggert and Ruben could go in midfield. When Kingston is fit he can play in midfield, as can Bruno. Then we could play with two strikers, this is all possible. We have a solution of one or two systems we can play. We must look to play a little bit offensive because we need to win the game. We need to be decisive in our own stadium and we will be.

"With 4-4-2 you must have the players, it's the same with 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1. We don't have the target striker we need but for now we use the players we have and try to push them into the right positions."
