Simmons re-united with Hearts mentor McGlynn

RAITH Rovers' new signing Stephen Simmons believes he can produce his best form for the Kirkcaldy club after being re-united with manager John McGlynn.

Simmons was just 14 when the current Raith boss joined Hearts of Midlothian as a youth coach, and during their time together at Tynecastle, McGlynn helped Simmons progress from the youth set-up into the Hearts first team.

The pair have been re-united at Stark's Park after a career that has taken Simmons to Dunfermline and, more recently, Queen of the South, where his short term contract expired last month.

Simmons told SportsPress: "When John came to Hearts I was in the first under 15s team he ever took, and from then I was with John all the way through to 23-years-old.

"He's been a big part of my career and I've played in every team he's been with. If anyone can get the best out of me it will be John. He's a great manager and he's doing a great job just now."
