Hearts linked with move for Cameroon striker Albert Meyong-Ze

HEARTS are on the trail of Sporting Braga striker Albert Meyong-Ze as they try to strengthen for a European push.

Tynecastle boss Csaba Laszlo is already looking at Motherwell's Chris Porter but Cameroon ace Meyong-Ze is also on his hit list.

The Jambos have been keeping an eye on the player for the last three months and had him checked out again in the 1-0 defeat by Benfica last weekend.

Meyong-Ze, 28, is contracted to the Portuguese outfit until June next year but could be tempted by a switch to the SPL.

He has bagged six goals in 14 league games this season and five in the UEFA Cup to bring him to the attention of Hearts.

Meyong-Ze also played with Vitoria Setubal and scored the goal that won the 2005 Portuguese Cup.

He then moved to Belenenses and topped the scoring charts despite his side finishing fourth bottom of the table.

The hitman also had stints with Levante and Albacete in Spain and could be set for a move to Scotland.

Meyong-Ze said: "There are always rumours about my future but I haven't spoken to anybody.

"The decision lies with Braga. I prefer to speak about reality but British football is beautiful."

Meanwhile, crocked Hearts striker Juho Makela is targeting a March return to action.

The Finnish forward has been out since mid-December after damaging ankle ligaments.

The 25-year-old was expected to miss only a month but will now be absent for almost twice as long.

And that leaves Laszlo with just Christian Nade and young Gary Glen to lead his attack.

Makela said: "I managed to avoid an operation butmy rehabilitation will still be six to eight weeks."
