Iain Vigurs: We want to win to avoid rollicking from boss Brewster

Nov 15 2008 By Euan Mcarthur

IAIN VIGURS insists Inverness are on a mission to humble Hearts - because they don't want another rollicking from Craig Brewster.

The midfielder revealed his raging boss laid into the under-performing stars as they trailed Falkirk 1-0 at half-time in the Highlands on Wednesday night.

Brewster's outburst led to Caley Thistle turning over the Bairns in the second half before Adam Rooney's late goal secured a deserved share of the spoils.

And Vigurs is adamant they won't make the same mistake again as they gear up to welcome the Jambos to the Highlands.

He said: "The gaffer told us a few home truths at half-time which we could have no complaints about.

"It had to be said and it's a particular side that a lot of people never get to see in the manager.

"Everyone tends to think of him being a nice, easygoing guy. But he's got that ruthless streak in him when it's required.

"What he said basically motivated us to go back out and do the business. He was furious we had dropped our standards from a few days earlier when we had won down at Hibs in some style.

"Hopefully he won't need to remind us about anything at the interval on Saturday."

Inverness are aiming for only their second home win of the season and it's something of a mystery for those who follow the side why their favourites fare so much better on their travels.

Vigurs added: "It's so frustrating that we've only managed one win in front of our own fans and, not surprisingly, it's been a topic for conversation among the supporters.

"I don't think it's a mental thing because the players here are all confident about facing any team.

"It's a record that doesn't make for good reading but Hearts is the ideal kind of game to lift everyone.

"We proved ourselves against Hibs last weekend so there's no reason why we can't get another positive result against the other team from the capital."
