Hearts 2-0 Gretna Manager Q&A

Feb 11 2008

STEVIE FRAIL

Q: How comfortable was that victory?

A: We started in the right manner and with a good tempo. We should have scored after 60 seconds and got the goal after three minutes. It was disappointing we never put away our other chances.

Q: Has the attitude of the players changed?

A: That is the attitude I have had since things changed. There is a fine line between winning and losing. The cup games we lost were very fine but that is three consecutive clean sheets in the league and three wins. We have to keep that going and get as many points as we possibly can.

Q: How impressed were you with Andrius Velicka?

A: You can see what he puts into the game. He is a hard worker and does that every day in training. I thought his first chance was slightly easier than the one he put away. He is a real asset to us and is playing very well.

Q: Are you pleased to go above Hibs?

A: It is just another place. Results went our way and we knew if we won we would go above Hibs and that is another positive thing for us. We don't win anything from getting ahead of Hibs. I am delighted we have moved up from second bottom and we are three points off sixth place. We are not far away from getting to the top six and that is our aim so we will see how far we can go.

DAVIE IRONS

Q: Was that a fair result?

A: We had a relatively new side. We lost an early goal but got ourselves back in the game with a couple of chances. The second goal killed us.

Q: How impressed were you with John Paul Kissock and the new boys?

A: This boy has a big career ahead of him. He has a lot to prove to himself, me and David Moyes at Everton that he can play first-team football and it's the same for the rest of the lads. They have come up here wanting to prove they can play first team football. If they can do that we are going to benefit and ultimately they are going to benefit long term in their careers.

Q: Did Hearts impress you?

A: I never thought Hearts were going to be in the bottom two or three. They have too many good players, too much of a good tradition.

Q: Did you and Chris Innes have a row?

A: He didn't hear what I was trying to shout at him. I have a cold and was trying to reorganise. Chris was complaining he couldn't hear what I was saying. He has an Edinburgh accent and I've got a Dumfries and Galloway accent so it was lost in translation.

Q: Was the dismissal of Danny Hall fair?

A: He has been booked twice for two tackles but the second was harsh.

Q: How is Aurelien Collin?

He got a head knock and twisted his ankle when he went down. Touch wood
