Inverness CT 0-0 Hearts

Steven Pressley returned to the Hearts starting line-up as captain but could not inspire his side to victory as they were held to a draw in Inverness.

Craig Gordon was the hero for Hearts as they went eight games without a win.

He made a great save from an Ian Black header minutes before the interval just before Dennis Wyness blasted over the bar with the goal at his mercy.

Gordon saved from Craig Dargo after the break, while Hearts' Paul Hartley was denied by a fine Mark Brown block.

Christie pleased with positive Caley performance
Koslovski confident goals will return for Hearts

Brown had returned to Caley Thistle's goal following suspension.

Pressley was back for Hearts after being missing for two matches following his criticism of majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov's regime.

Robbie Neilson was also back in the right-back berth in Eduard Malofeev's last game in charge before head coach Valdas Ivanauskas' return from time off through illness.

Hearts started brightly and, within the first minute, Hartley flashed an angled drive over the bar from 16 yards after Saulius Mikoliunas had sent him through.

The visitiors dominated the opening stages, but Caley defended well and worked their way into the match.

And, when Nerijus Barasa and Andrius Velicka both had headers from close range, they lacked pace and accuracy.

Gordon dived to palm Barry Wilson's drive from the edge of the penalty area for a corner.

Mikoliunas drew a decent save from Brown at the other end with a left-footed drive from 18 yards.

And Gordon threw himself to Wyness' feet to prevent the former Hearts striker finishing off after a Ross Tokely header caused panic in the visitors' defence.

Gordon did well again when he tipped an Ian Black header on to the bar before catching the rebound.

There was no real sign of a breakthrough after the break, although Hearts defender Christophe Berra almost gifted the Highlanders a chance when he dallied in possession at the back.

Takis Fyssas moved into the Inverness penalty area, but his effort from 14 yards was comfortably saved by Brown.

A goalmouth scramble at the other end ended with Neilson throwing himself to block a goalbound shot by Wyness with his legs.

Pressley popped up in the Inverness box to volley high over the bar.

Ross Tokely headed over at the other end after a corner.

Dargo tested Gordon with a glancing header, but the Scotland goalkeeper gathered with ease.

The Inverness striker then finished off an exciting run by firing wide before Hart was also off-target with an effort from distance.

With four minutes remaining, Brown flew to his left to save a wonderful Hartley volley from 25 yards - a rare piece of excitement.
