Ex-Hearts star's son turns Bleu

ELIOTT CARRUTHERS, whose father Eric played 67 times for Hearts between 1970 and 1974 will have a special mascot role at Hampden tomorrow.

Because Eliott's mum, Stephanie, is French he will lead out Les Bleus although, when it comes to goal-scoring, the Scots would do well to claim the nine-year-old as their own.

A member of the Stockbridge Primary school team, Eliott has been playing up front just like his dad, who also played for Derby, and banging in the goals with regularity including four in a recent match to turn a 0-3 deficit against Davidson's Mains into a 4-3 victory.

Eric said: "We are on the same wavelength when it comes to watching Hearts, whom I have a lot of affection for, but on Scotland-France occasions I leave him and his Mum to sort out who they are supporting!"
