BAZ AIN'T CAPTAIN SCARLET!PREMIER LEAGUE By Gavin Berry NEW Dundee United captain Barry Robson has vowed to quit ranting at ref s in his bid to set a good example. The winger was handed the skipper's armband by Craig Brewster after Derek McInnes' Tannadice exit in the summer. Robson admits his committed attitude means he's always likely to pick up cards -and he has already seen red against St Mirren this season. But he hopes to scrap his silly cautions for dissent after arguing with officials. Robson, who faces Hearts at Tynecastle today, confessed: "I argued with refs too much and had problems with a few. "It's just down to wanting to win but I know I need to channel that aggression. "The captaincy isn't a problem. I spoke to the manager about it at the start of the season. He asked if I wanted to try it to see if I enjoyed it and I did. "I go out and give my all in each match and every player at the club should do the same. "If you can do that whether you're captain or not everything should be okay. "I've played under a few skippers. "Derek McInnes was a great pro and captain at a big club like West Brom. You can learn a lot from him. "He was good in that role and really gave 100 per cent. "I was also at Rangers when Richard Gough was captain there although I was only a young guy. "But it's important to be your own man. "The best way to inspire any team is to go out and play well." Taken from the Sunday Mail |
