Ivanauskas keeps coolROB ROBERTSON September 15 2006 Valdas Ivanauskas, the Hearts manager, last night refused to comment on his future claiming that it was a matter for others to decide. "It is not for me to discuss. You have to ask other people about that," said Ivanauskas. "Training is tomorrow and I will be there." The resounding defeat to the Czech outfit all but ends any hope Hearts have of making the UEFA Cup group stages. It will also heighten pressure on the manager as it is well documented that Vladimir Romanov, the Tynecastle club's owner, had expected some form of success in Europe this season and does not tolerate failure. With a must-win Bank of Scotland Premierleague match against bottom club Motherwell on Sunday followed by the return leg against Sparta Prague in a fortnight's time, it is clear Ivanauskas will be struggling to keep his job if results go against him. He defended his decision to take off Mauricio Pinella, who stormed up the tunnel when replaced, along with Mirsad Beslija to bring on Ibrahim Tall and Deividas Cesnauskis in their place. Both substitutions were met with a cacophony of boos and it is clear the fans' patience is starting to wear thin with the coach. Taken from the Herald |
