KEAN: WE HIT THE BULLS EYE

PREMIER LEAGUE
By Scott Mcdermott

JUBILANT St Mirren goal hero Stewart Kean hailed Tony Bullock for inspiring his side to victory over Hearts.

The Love Street men pulled off a shock 1-0 win at Tynecastlethanks to Kean's late winner and the keeper's superb saves.

The former Ross County and Dundee United No.1 produced at least three world-class saves yesterday.

His sensational stops kept Gus MacPherson's boys in the match and contributed hugely to a precious three points. Striker Kean was delighted with thewin but took time to heap praise on Bullock.

And he said: "Tony got his chance in the absence of young Chris Smith whose head maybe went down a bit after last week's defeat to Dundee United.

"The big guy was excellent, he kept us in the game with a couple of brilliant saves.

"Tony's performance gave us the belief we could go on to win.

"No-one expected us to do that but you've got to come to grounds such as this and believe you can take something. I was feeding off scraps all afternoon but you always hope you'll get a sniff before the end.

"Craig Molloy did well, shooting across the keeper, and I managed to put the rebound away.

"We're delighted. It hasn't been a bad start in the SPL and hopefully we can keep it going."

Buddies boss McPherson insisted his shock troops won't get carried away, even though they're now joint third in the table.

He said: "It's not the best result of my managerial career, we've had better in winning the First Division and Challenge Cup. It's just another three points.

"People expected us to struggle and maybe we still will. But it's a fantastic result.

"I've came to these places and to win you need a good goalkeeper, strong defence and opponents who miss chances. We got all that so we won't get carried away.

"Tony was outstanding for us. It was a tough decision to leave out young Chris but I felt I needed experience at Tynecastle and Tony has justified that decision."
