Hearts Hall of Fame

STUART BATHGATE

FOURTEEN Hearts players have been listed as contenders for induction into the club's Hall of Fame, to be launched in November, writes Stuart Bathgate. Supporters are being asked to vote for the player or players they wish to be inducted by texting FAME followed by their choice's initial and surname - eg FAME CLEVEIN - to 88442.

The club plans to make the induction dinner an annual event, but has yet to disclose how many players will enter the Hall of Fame either this year or in subsequent years. This first list, which includes post-war players only, comprises:
STEPHANE ADAM

A goalscorer in the 1998 Scottish Cup final win over Rangers, the French striker was one of the most influential members of the team built up by Jim Jefferies.
WILLIE BAULD

The 'King of Hearts', a member of the Terrible Trio in the 1950s, is acknowledged as one of the club's greatest ever players.
ALFIE CONN

Also part of the Terrible Trio, the inside-forward had a fearsome shot.
JOHN CUMMING

An intensely committed player, one of the heroes of the 1956 Scottish Cup win against Celtic.
FREDDIE GLIDDEN

The captain of that 1956 cup-winning team, a rock at the heart of the defence.
CRAIG GORDON

Scotland's No 1 may already, at 23, be the best goalkeeper in his club's history.
PAUL HARTLEY

The midfielder is the driving force behind the current side.
CRAIG LEVEIN

A cultured centre-back for both club and country, Levein also took Hearts into Europe as a manager.
DAVE MACKAY

One of the most accomplished members of the 1950s team.
GARY MACKAY

The record-holder for club appearances is also renowned as a committed supporter of the club.
ROBBIE NEILSON

The current right-back achieved celebrity status with a goal-preventing tackle in this year's Scottish Cup final.
STEVEN PRESSLEY

The present captain has just surpassed Bobby Walker's record to become Hearts' most-capped player with 30 appearances for Scotland.
JOHN ROBERTSON

It wasn't over until the fat striker scored.
JIMMY WARDHAUGH

The inside-left completed the Terrible Trio, and established a post-war scoring record.
