MAN BY MANEURO 2008: LITHUANIA V SCOTLAND Compiled By Neil Cameron Craig Gordon 7 Undoubtedly Scotland's best keeper since Andy Goram and should get even better. You always feel safe with the Hearts man who never looked flustered and dealt with everything brilliantly. No keeper could have saved Miceika's acrobatic effort. Christian Dailly 8 Would build a brick wall himself to run through for Scotland, such is commitment to his country. Fantastic header set up victory and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Steven Pressley 8 Maybe could have done better with an early chance. Was cool at the back, kept it simple and hoofed the ball when hoofing was required. Another hero. Davie Weir 9 A Hall of Fame performance. Skipper won his 50th cap and managed to turn in an assured display. Never missed a tackle or header all night. Even managed one fancy drag-back to get away from his man. Gary Caldwell 7 Brought in to add a bit more steel and went about his job in efficient way. Fantastic in second half when Lithuania threw everyone forward. Gary Naysmith 7 Has hardly put a foot wrong in a Scotland jersey and last night was no exception. Might be small in stature but tackles like a man twice his size. Darren Fletcher 7 Not as dominant as he would have liked. Started brightly but suffered when McFadden went off. But had a great end to the game when his cool head was invaluable. Paul Hartley 8 Played further forward than Saturday and made a number of great runs into the box. Passing was superb in what was probably his best game for Scotland. Mr Romanov would have been impressed. Nigel Quashie 4 If only his early chance had fallen to his left foot. Took a few hits for the team and had to limp off before half time. Kenny Miller 9 As usual, covered an estimated 350 miles and, as usual, scored for Scotland. Let's forget his daft booking because the Celtic man was superb again. His season should really kick off now. James McFadden 4 Looked the part before he went off injured in 21 minutes. Whole team went a bit flat after he left the field. Substitutes: Graham Alexander 7 Replaced McFadden and more than played his part as he quickly settled into his right wing-back role. Kris Boyd 6 On just before the break and made his presence felt. Didn't score this time, despite a great late chance, but for once wouldn't have minded. Scott Severin 2 Brought on for Hartley in dying minutes to help count down clock. Subs not used: N Alexander, Anderson, Neilson, Boyd, Teale. Lithuania: Karcemarskas, Stankevicius, Dziaukstas, Skerla, Zvirgzdauskas, Savenas, Kalonas, Mikoliunas, Preiksaitis, Poskus, Danilevicius. Subs: Malinauskas, Paulauskas, Labukas, Zelmikas, Miceika, Tamosauskas, Kavaliauskas. Referee: V Hrinak ( Slovakia). Taken from the Daily Record |
