Baltic duo are given outingsHEARTS' new Lithuanian striker Andrius Velicka and winger Kestutis Ivaskevicius were given their first outings since signing on year-long loan deals from FBK Kaunas in a 2-0 win over Falkirk reserves. They featured at the Falkirk Stadium along with Saturday's goal hero Andrew Driver in a young Hearts side. The Jambos opened the scoring with 35 minutes on the clock when defender Alan Lithgow headed against the post allowing David Armstrong to react quickest and drive the ball into the net. Five minutes after the restart the visitors wrapped up the victory when a rash challenge from Falkirk's Mark Twaddle saw Hearts awarded a penalty that Armstrong coolly converted. With 26 minutes remaining on the clock Velicka almost managed to get his name on the scoresheet when he spun away from his maker to get on the end of a cross to the back post but he headed wide of the target and his side had to settle for a two-goal victory. Hearts: MacDonald, Kelly, Pelosi, Lithgow, Armstrong. Jonsson, Ivaskevicius, Neill, Velicka, Doherty, Driver. Subs: Barjaktarevic, Mackie, Slater, Park, Taylor. Taken from the Scotsman |
