NO CASE FOR INVERNESS DEFENCE AT TYNECASTLE

I Can now see an excellent evening spent with the Rolling Stones on Friday was strangely prophetic for this Caley Thistle fan.

As Mick Jagger left me with the thought I Can't Get No Satisfaction and You Can't Always Get What You Want, I didn't have to wait long to find out the truth of all this wisdom.

At Tynecastle on Saturday, Caley Thistle conceded four goals for the first time in the SPL.

Hearts played well and deserve credit for bouncing back from two disappointing defeats at Rangers and AEK.

Having said that, I thought the margin of victory flattered the Jambos. Two late goals did not tell the whole story of a second half where Inverness had a real go despite the loss of Wyness before the break.

Frustrating, though, was seeing inswinging corner after inswinging corner hurled straight into the six-yard box where they were so easy for Craig Gordon and his defenders to deal with.

Before the break Caley Thistle had scored a good goal to level at 1-1 and very nearly took the lead shortly afterwards when Wyness headed just wide at the end of a glorious move.

However, poor defending was certainly a feature with the whole defence looking very static for Hearts' second goal and Tokely having a moment he'll want to forget for the third.

The injury to Wyness is a worry and it looks like he might be out for a while. With the sound of the transfer window starting to creak shut I imagine Charlie Christie will be on the look-out for a striker willing to move north.

Averaging less than a goal a game thus far, it looks like we need some support in that department.
