INVERNESS MUST MAKE GREATER MARK IN FRONT OF GOALBy Anthony Haggerty MARK BROWN insists Inverness paid a heavy price for not being ruthless enough in front of goal. Charlie Christie's men ought to have left Tynecastle with at least a point to show for their efforts rather than a scoreline that flattered their hosts. Dennis Wyness, Graham Bayne and Barry Wilson all passed up chances that could have put a different complexion on the game. Highlanders' keeper Brown had just one save to make - and a beauty it was too from Jamie Mole's goalbound header. Yet still he had to collect the ball from his net on four occasions. Brown said: "Up until Hearts' third goal we were still in the match and I thought we could have snatched an equaliser. "The third was the killer. We fell apart after that and Hearts took advantage. "I have had one real save to make yet I have still picked the ball out of my net four times. "We did not take our chances and that is the fine line between being a top team and Caley Thistle." Caley also lost the services of Wyness in the first half with a dislocated shoulder that will see his sidelined for a few weeks. His boss could not believe the margin of defeat. Christie said: "Barry Wilson had a glorious header from five yards to make it 2-2 and if that had gone in it would have changed the whole game. You would have fancied Caley to go on and win the match. "Dennis Wyness misses a header by inches which would have been one of the finest goals we had scored since coming up. "That is the best we've played at Tynecastle since we won 3-1 in the cup here. "Caley Thistle put so much into the game and it is frustrating as we will play worse and win this season. This defeat is a hard one to take." Taken from the Daily Record |
