Sparta date switch leaves Jambos in limbo

HEARTS fans could face the prospect of forking out twice for the trip to Prague next month after booking their flights before the match dates were switched.

Initially, it seemed the first leg of the tie would be played in the Czech Republic, however, Tottenham were also drawn to face Slavia Prague on the same day, forcing UEFA to make the switch.

Now the home tie will be played at Murrayfield on Thursday, September 14 with the away leg at the Toyota Stadium a fortnight later.

Some supporters booked flights as soon as the draw was made - paying more than £200 - only for UEFA's decision to change the dates to be announced a couple of hours later.

One group of supporters, who paid £250 each, are hoping they have come up with a way of trying to recoup the money by offering to sell their flights to Spurs fans keen to travel to Czech Republic for the Slavia clash.

Antoni Bruno from Edinburgh had booked flights from Bristol on September 13 after seeing the draw on television and said: "We were pretty disappointed when we heard that UEFA had changed the dates.

"There are quite a few of us travelling over for the game and we don't want to risk paying extra to swap the flights to a fortnight later, just in case there are not enough seats left for us all.

"We're lucky because we were flying from Bristol so we hope that we can maybe interest some Tottenham supporters in buying them.

"We will still try to go to the away leg but we don't want to end up paying twice for it."
