PRSO FINDS A NEW ROLE AS IBROX BABYSITTER

By Keith Jackson

PRETTY soon they'll be calling him Dado Day Care.

Rangers' Croatian warhorse has taken on the status of a senior statesman since Paul Le Guen became boss.

At 31, Dado Prso has almost 10 years on most of his team-mates as he spearheads the Frenchman's assault on the SPL title.

Seven of Le Guen's starting 11 were aged 22 or under as Rangers romped to a convincing 2-0 win over Hearts.

And Prso - a talismanic figure even before he was handed Barry Ferguson's armband - seems genuinely thrilled to be placed in charge of the talented kindergarten.

He said: "I guess I'm the Daddy now. I was looking at the squad list and everybody else seems to have been born in 1985 or 1987. I was born in 1974 so Lionel Letizi and I are the oldest but we have shown we can still do it.

"I still feel as if I can give something to the team. I do not feel that old yet!

"And anyway we need a mix of young and old to make this a successful side."

Prso believes Rangers have just sent out a very clear message to the rest. He said: "The young players will have taken a lot out of this because their confidence will be higher. We have made a statement with this performance.

"We showed the fans we have good quality and that we can play good football."

Le Guen spoke in gushing terms about Prso's rampaging contribution and suggested he and not two-goal Kris Boyd ought to have won the man of the match award.

He said: "Dado was perhaps the best player on the park, maybe with Jeremy Clement. He was available during the whole game and created the penalty."

But it was Lee Martin and his Manchester United teammate Phil Bardsley who made the biggest impression.

Le Guen admitted he is trying to persuade Sir Alex Ferguson to let him have both loan players until the end of the season.

And then there was Boyd, back in the team for the first time this season following his public spat with Le Guen.

Boyd did what he said he would and scored - twice.

His manager said: "I'm happy with his two goals but I think he could be better."
