Ivanauskas hopeful over Karapidis

Hearts head coach Valdas Ivanauskas expects to know in the coming week whether PAOK Salonika defender Hristos Karapidis will sign at Tynecastle.

The two clubs have yet to settle a fee for the player who impressed on trial, but Hearts now have £1.6m from the transfer of Rudi Skacel to Southampton.

"There is not a big problem," said Ivanauskas after a win at Dunfermline.

"We hope to know 100% before the midweek game against Siroki in Bosnia. But I have a good feeling about it."

Skacel had engineered a move after falling out with the club following a good start to his first season with the Scottish Premier League club.

"Rudi was a great player for us last season, but he is now with Southampton and I wish him luck," said Ivanauskas.

Hearts striker Michal Pospisil urged the Edinburgh club to replace Skacel.

"I am still in contact with Rudi and we speak every second day," he said.

"We must replace him. He scored 17 goals and had lots of assists, so it's a shame that he left the team.

"It depends on what the board want to do with the money for Rudi, but I think we have to buy in areas where we are weak."
