Makela goal earns draw for JambosHearts striker Juho Makela opened the scoring as the Jambos ended their Austrian tour with a 1-1 draw against FC Ecomax Cluj. The 23-year-old Finn, who had only been on the field for six minutes after replacing Edgaras Jankauskas, took advantage of some poor defending by the Romanian side to slot home in the 77th minute. However, in the closing stages of the game, Cluj grabbed an equaliser to deny the Jambos a winning end to their tour. Head coach Valdas Ivanauskas had restored goalkeeper Craig Gordon and striker Roman Bednar to his starting line-up in place of Steve Banks and Calum Elliot. The Jambos went close in the 16th minute when Jankauskas failed to connect with a ball from Andrew Driver. And they were appealing for a penalty moments later when a Robbie Neilson throw-in appeared to have been handled but the referee waved play on. Scotland international Gordon saved well just before the break as Cluj threatened. Six minutes after the break, substitute Nerijus Barasa was forced off the field with a hamstring injury to be replaced by Lee Wallace. Lithuania international Deividas Cesnauskis then went close from distance. With 13 minutes remaining, Makela was able to race clear of the Cluj defence and drill home the opening goal. But Tynecastle hopes of ending the tour on a winning note were ended as Cluj forced home an equaliser with seconds remaining. Taken From http://www.teamtalk.com/football |
