Hearts to sock it to them

HEARTS today unveiled their new home kit for season 2006/07, which incorporates the club's full initials, HOMFC, on white socks.

Kit manufacturers Hummel got permission from Hearts to change from traditional maroon socks to white.

They say it gives the kit a fresh, European-look as the club prepare to enter the qualifying rounds of the Champions League.

A Hearts spokesperson said: "We have imprinted the socks with HOMFC to provide a unique element to this part of the full home kit in addition to also featuring white socks. The move to use the full acronym HOMFC further strengthens the actual title of the club as Heart of Midlothian Football Club.

"This is something we know our supporters are extremely keen to promote, and as such it makes sense to feature our initials in full."

The new kit will be officially launched at 00.01am on Thursday, July 28, at the Heart of Midlothian Superstore at Tynecastle. Alternatively, Hearts will guarantee delivery to your home on Thursday, July 28, if you pre-order now.

Hearts are anticipating that this home shirt will be the biggest seller ever.

The shirts, which will be worn for the first time in the pre-season friendly against Preston North End at Deepdale and against Osasuna at Murrayfield in the Champions League challenge match, are priced at £42 for adults and £30 for kids.
