Hearts reveal Jung-hwan interest

New Hearts head coach Valdas Ivanauskas has confirmed that South Korea striker Ahn Jung-Hwan is a signing target.

The player's agent claims Hearts have already agreed a fee of around £500,000 with MSV Duisburg for the 30-year-old.

And Ivanauskas said: "He is a good player but there are others in vision, three of four, and it's not only about the player's qualities.

"It's also about him fitting into a Scottish club and the squad. Ahn is one of the candidates for a position."

Ivanauskas was appointed Hearts head coach on a permanent basis on Friday and he aims to strengthen the squad at Tynecastle.

He added: "I have communicated to (owner) Mr Romanov what positions need filled and I hope in the next few weeks there will be new faces."

Jung-Hwan scored in South Korea's 2-1 win over Togo at the World Cup and featured in all three of his nation's games as a substitute.

The former Perugia and Metz player made his name at the previous World Cup, when he netted the goal that eliminated Italy.

"Hearts are ready to pay 750,000 euros," said representative Tom Sanders. "We have spoken about the salary and talks are going on.

"I was aware Ivanauskas was to be in charge. Now we want Jung-Hwan's future sorted out as quickly as possible."
