CAMPBELL: YOU WON'T GAG VLAD

CAMPBELL OGILVIE reckons Vladimir Romanov will carry on ranting - despite efforts to gag the outspoken Hearts owner.

The Lithuanian has been the scourge of Scottish football chiefs since he took charge at Tynecastle.

He has lambasted the running of the game and attacked referees but the SFA had been powerless to take any action because Romanov is not on the Gorgie board.

That all changed at an AGM last month with a new rule which covers everyone at a club - even if they are not listed as directors.

However, Jambos operations director Ogilvie - who is also SFA vice-president - doesn't believe Vlad will change his ways.

He said: "I wouldn't think it will change his thinking in being outspoken. Previously SFA rules meant non-directors weren't accountable for their comments.

"Vladimir is not a director or chairman. He's not employed by the club and the rule was changed to cover that type of individual.

"To be fair to Vladimir he's coming from a different culture and self-made businessmen have opinions.

"They're used to coming in, making a decision and things are done."

Romanov, who has just named interim gaffer Valdas Ivanauskas as full-time boss, claimed his club were hard done by last season when it came to referees.

But Ogilvie said: "I don't believe there is any prejudice against Hearts.

"In certain games this year you can argue some decisions have gone against the team. But that's the nature of the game.

"With Vladimir he'll say things publicly and it's picked up from there."

However, Ogilvie admits he will try to keep Romanov on the straight and narrow.

He said: "I try to guide the club in issues with the SFA.

"One of my roles is to try to make sure regulations from FIFA, UEFA, the SFA or whoever are adhered to.

"Situations will arise throughout the season. Things might be said and we'll have to deal with that."
