ANDY SETS SELL FOR CONTINENTExclusive JAMBOS SPECIAL By Euan Mcarthur ANDY WEBSTERis to put himself in the European shop window. The Hearts star becomes a free agent today and next week will embark on a mini tour of top continental clubs. Webster's whistle-stop tour will take in glamour French outfits like Marseille, Monaco and Rennes as well as Dutch cracks PSV Eindhoven. The Scotland stopper's agent, Charlie Duddy, has organised the showcase for the 24-year-old and the pair have the option of staying in Duddy's French villa. He said last night: "I'm in the process of looking at flights and planning just exactly how we'll arrange our club visits. "These are all clubs who've expressed an interest in signing Webster. Hopefully we'll have something definite organised by the end of next week. "We're also planning to speak to a number of English clubs." Southampton, Fulham and Everton have all been linked with Webster. The player, who yesterday arrived back from pre-season with the Jambos in Monte Carlo, has invoked a FIFA rule that allows him to hand in his notice at Tynecastle after falling out of favour with Vladimir Romanov. That enables him to sign for any club outside Scotland provided they pay compensation for the final year of his contract. Former national boss Berti Vogts has recommended Webster to several leading German clubs. Taken from the Daily Record |
