WILSON'S HOPEFUL OVER CAPITAL KIDS By John Gardiner SCOTLAND Under-19 boss Tommy Wilson is optimistic that Hearts and Hibs will release players wanted for next month's European Championships in Poland. Both clubs will have European ties to play but Wilson hopes to include Tynecastle duo Calum Elliot and Lee Wallace and Hibs' Steven Fletcher in his 18- man squad. Scotland begin their bid against Portugal on July 18 in a group which also includes Spain and Turkey. Qualification would rule Elliot and Wallace out of Hearts' Champions League second qualifying round tie the following week. And, with Hibs expected to reach round two of the InterToto Cup Fletcher could also find himself unavailable for his club. Wilson said: "I'm trying to get in touch with Tony Mowbray and at the moment Hearts are on a cruise in the south of France. I'm hopeful they will make them available." Taken from the Daily Record |
