FAR EAST IS TOO FAR FETCHEDGordon Waddel HAVING made the trip to and from Japan, I have to tell Gordon Strachan he's off his trolley letting Celtic put business before football and sending them out there in a midweek between league games for a friendly. Okay, I was flying cattle class and they'll be in the lap of luxury up the front of the bus. But professional or not, the effect of crossing eight time zones and flying 13 hours and two flights TWICE in the space of three days will take its toll. I remember speaking to a top tennis player who reckoned that it took at least a day per time zone for his body to adjust when he was going to Australia. At that rate Celtic will be lucky if they're ready to play their NEXT friendly the following midweek at Chelsea. They may yet beat Hearts that weekend in between, but it will be despite what they've done, not because of it. Taken from the Sunday Mail |
