SCOTT'S WELL UP FOR MOVEBy Alan Marshall scott McDonald last night told Hearts and Hibs he's up for a move. The 22-year-old striker wants to quit Motherwell after more than two years in a bid to further his career. He has been linked with both Edinburgh clubs although Hibs boss Tony Mowbray has dismissed claims he will swoop for the Australian as a replacement for Celtic-bound Derek Riordan. Even s o, McDonald, left, admits he would welcome interest from either club. Last night he said: "I've read Hearts and Hibs are interested in me and it would be a real honour to think clubs such as those could come in for me. "It's certainly something I would be interested in. "I need to work hard and play as well as I can to show clubs they should move for me." McDonald decided it was time to move on after failing to make Australia's squad for the World Cup. He has two years remaining on his Fir Park contract but said: "I feel it's time to press on and find a new challenge. "I still have a couple of years left on my deal which means Motherwell would hopefully get a decent deal for me." But Motherwell boss Maurice Malpas has told McDonald he has no chance of leaving ahead of the new season. He said: "Scott knows he has to come back and show what he can do and if we get an offer it's up to the board and me to consider it." Taken from the Daily Record |
