I GOT OUT OF AFRICA TO SEE MY HEROES

LONG-DISTANCE fan David Fisher travelled 6000 miles to see his beloved Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final and admits it was a day he thought he'd NEVER savour.

The 60-year-old made the journey from his home in South Africa to Hampden yesterday to watch his team see off Gretna. He insists it was one of the best days of his life, having supported Jambos formore than 50 years.

David, who is bravely fighting cancer, was convinced he'd never see his favourites in a cup final. But he enjoyed every moment yesterday alongside son Alistair who made the trip from London.

David, who was born in Pitlochry, said: "It was a huge moment for me seeing them running out in the final - I thought this kind of day had passed me by.

"I went tomy first Hearts game as a kid and my dad gotme hooked on the club from an early age.

"I grew up idolising Tynecastle legends like Tommy Walker and Willie Bauld.

"The final was such a special day and I just had to go.

"It was an unbelievable experience at Hampden and means so much. To me this is the biggest club in the world."
