Scottish Cup Final: Hearts to triumph (eventually)SPL runners-up Hearts take on 2nd division champions Gretna on Saturday in the Scottish Cup final, aiming to cap one of the most memorable seasons in the club's history (for good and bad reasons) by lifting some silverware to add to their qualification for the Champions League group stages. Although occasionally inconsistent, Hearts have done the business when it matters in recent games, beating Hibs 4-0 in their semi-final, and then scoring crucial home wins against Celtic and Aberdeen to ensure they finished second in the league. Built around a solid Scottish spine of Craig Gordon, Steven Pressley and Paul Hartley, they have plenty of players capable of scoring goals. Gretna are no ordinary lower division team of course. Backed by owner Brooks Mileson they have just gained their second successive promotion, scoring nearly 100 goals in the process, while in the cup they have knocked out first division sides St Mirren, Clyde and Dundee. Hearts are a totally different proposition however, and although Gretna may make it to half-time on level terms, the Jambos should still run out fairly comfortable winners in the end. Suggested bets: Half-Time/Full-Time - Draw/Hearts (7/2) Hearts to win 3-0 (15/2) Paul Hartley to score at anytime (7/4) http://www.squarefootball.net |
