HOTLINE

Neil Cameron

THE best Hotline call of the season came right at the end. Just think about it - what would happen if Hearts drew FC Kaunas in a Champions League qualifier?

It's enough to make my head spin. Jim Strachan, Glasgow, said: "I'm a Rangers fan but must congratulate Hearts. My mates and I think fate will now bring together Hearts and Vladimir Romanov's Lithuanian club, Kaunas. Now that would be interesting."

Harry McCafferty, Greenock, said: "Isn't it time Celtic and Hearts left the SPL? They are both too big for the league now."

Ewan Campbell, Inveraray, said: "I'm still pretty convinced it's all going to end in tears at Tynecastle but as a Celtic fan I have to say well done to Hearts.

"And well done Gretna as well. I'm sure they will be as good as most of the SPL teams who normally get put out in the first round against some mob from Finland."

Andrew Henry, Gloucester, said: "If Hearts had got the breaks we would have won the league.

"There were too many bad refereeing decisions in games against Celtic and that cost us. But well done to the Jambos who have been fantastic."

Andrew Robertson, Knightswood, said: "I'm quite happy that Hearts finished second. I'm a Rangers fan and I didn't want us to get to the Champions League as we would have got pumped." Oo-er.

Hearts fan Jim Winter, Inverness, said: "It was my 18th birthday the day we lost the league at Dens Park but I turned 38 to see my team make the Champions League.

"And I wouldn't swap Paul Hartley for any player in the world."

Jamie Lindsay, Helensburgh, said: "As a Celtic fan, I must congratulate Hearts. They have deserved second place."

Coj Ramsay, Edinburgh, said: "Well done to the Jambos, Romanov may be eccentric but I would rather have someone who is 100 per cent ambitious than a chairman and manager who were happy to finish behind the Old Firm."

Ian McDonald Peebleshire, said: "Romanov has delivered Champions League football at Hearts, split the Old Firm and kept Hibs out of Europe. What more could you want?"

Chas Omnet, Whiteinch, said: "I'm worried about our co-efficient. Celtic won't do well in the Champions League, Hearts have still to qualify and as for Gretna ..."

James Steven, North Queensferry, said: "Hearts have been fantastic all season. We have had some real ups and downs but Romanov has done everything he said he would."

Away from Hearts, Malcolm Cartwright, Newcastle-under-Lyme, said: "I must congratulate all the Rangers fans who came down to Derby for the Ted McMinn benefit game. They made for a fantastic atmosphere."

Eddie Williams, Wishaw, said: "The abuse Neil Lennon gets is way over the top. It was Rudi Skacel who appeared to spit on him.

"I remember when Mark Viduka did it and I never had any respect for him after that."

Larry Walsh, Kilwinning, said: "I was at Celtic Park on Wednesday night and have to say it will be another 51 years until Kilmarnock win there. They were shocking."

Brian Wilson, Paisley, must live in a wee world of his own. He said: "Why is everyone saying Rangers will run away with the league next season?

"Paul Le Guen has yet to prove himself in Scottish football.

"Why is everyone in the media saying Celtic will struggle against him."

The only people saying that are Brian's mates down the pub as a wind-up. It's worked.

Graeme McLaughlin, Paisley, said: "I was at the Renfrew-Auchinleck Talbot game which Renfrew won 3-2.

"It had everything - skill, great goals, great saves and a fantastic atmosphere. More people should come to the juniors."

Real good quote of the day

'Romanov has delivered Champions League football, split the Old Firm and kept Hibs out of Europe. What more could you want?'
