Hearts, Hearts glorious Heartsh1 May 4th, 2006 Well done to Hearts for edging the race for second place - as any Rangers fan will tell you, the table never lies! Hearts’ 1-0 victory over Aberdeen last night secured the Edinburgh side 2nd spot in the SPL - a great achievement. Hearts will now face the test of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Something I am actually looking forward to. It has to be said that Hearts have out-performed Rangers over the whole season. Rangers may have enjoyed a late surge, but as we all know, it was too late. Anyway, the men from Gorgie deserve their place in the Champions League qualifier rounds… yes qualifier rounds. It’s a pity that the old firm’s ten year dominance had to come to an end at the expense of Rangers, but I welcome it nonetheless. For those bitter Rangers fans out there, just remember when we were out of Europe altogether this season - things could have been a lot worse. The team, and Eck, deserve a lot of credit for crawling from 5th to 3rd and turning round Hearts’ 16 point lead. Nonetheless it hurts. It hurts to see Rangers miss out on a chance to play in the Champions League. The UEFA Cup, however is not a booby prize. Look at Middlesbrough’s exploits this season. Rangers under the new management team with a new squad could make a serious impression on this competition. The Revolution starts on Monday. http://www.broxibears.com |
