Capital appetiser for Old FirmDARRYL BROADFOOT Setanta Sports, the television broadcaster, will screen a six-hour derby bonanza on Sunday, with live coverage of the final Old Firm game of the season being preceded by the full 90 minutes of the Hibernian-Hearts match. The subscription channel have satisfied the growing demand for blanket coverage of the race for second place in the Bank of Scotland Premierleague and have obtained permission to use the Edinburgh derby as a tantalising prelude to the action at Celtic Park. Hearts have already confirmed they will provide live beamback coverage at Tynecastle for supporters unable to get tickets for the match at Easter Road on Saturday. But, given the level of interest in the outcome, Setanta will start their coverage of the Old Firm derby on Sunday with a full re-run of the Edinburgh equivalent from 10am that day. Steven Pressley, the Hearts captain, will be a studio guest and Rob Maclean and Craig Burley will provide the commentary before starting presenting and punditry duties from Celtic Park. Colin Davidson, Setanta's executive producer, said: "We are really pleased to offer our subscribers this level of service in what is such an important weekend in the SPL. "Unfortunately there was not enough time to try to move the time of the [Hibs-Hearts] game to offer live coverage but this is the next best thing and I hope the subscribers appreciate the effort. "We will now be on air from 10am and will also have the highlights of the other SPL matches before turning our attention to the Old Firm game. Steven Pressley will be in the studio and there is no one better to comment on the events of the weekend." Taken from the Herald |
