Hibs hammered by Hartley's Hampden hat-trick

GLASGOW, April 2 (Reuters) - Hearts hammered Edinburgh city rivals Hibernian 4-0 on Sunday to reach their first Scottish FA Cup final in eight years.

Scotland international and former Hibs forward Paul Hartley hit a hat-trick to send Hearts on their way to the final against third division Gretna on May 13. Edgaras Jankauskas slotted home the other goal.

The final will feature neither Rangers nor Celtic for the first time since 1997.

Holders Celtic were knocked out by second division Clyde in a third-round shock marking Roy Keane's debut while Rangers nosedived from the fourth round 3-0 at home to Hibs.

Hibs finished their semi-final with nine men after Ivan Sproule and Gary Smith were shown red cards in the final 12 minutes.

Hartley finished a sweeping raid in the 28th minute by flicking a brilliant shot past Polish keeper Ziggy Malkowski from seven metres which clipped the right post on its way into the net. He caught out Malkowski in the 59th with a near-post 20-metre free-kick for a stunning second.

Hibs' misery was compounded when Irishman Sproule was sent off for stamping on Lithuanian Saulius Mikoliunas in the 78th minute.

Three minutes later Malkowski failed to reach a long ball outside his area, allowing Jankauskas to angle it home.

Smith pulled down Michel Pospisil for a penalty in the 87th minute and received a red card before Hartley buried the spot-kick into the bottom left corner.

Hearts last won the Cup in 1998 by beating Rangers 2-1. Gretna beat second division Dundee 3-0 at Hampden on Saturday in the other semi-final.
