WE PLAYED OUR HEARTS OUT BUT IF IT WASN'T FOR BAD LUCK WE'D JUST HAVE NONE AT ALL
Greg Strong
IT'S happened too many times to us at Livingston this season - busting a gut on the park then coming off cursing our luck.
The performance against Hearts was arguably one of our best of the season yet we lost 3-2 to a last-gasp goal.
Defeat is a massive downer. Twice we came from behind against a side that could be in the Champions League next season but came away with nothing to show for it.
The manager, John Roberston, is such a positive guy and told us not to feel down. There are 11 games to go and if we play like that, we will win more than we lose before the season is over.
I've read many times that every team gets its share of luck some time. If that's the case, Livi are due a monster chunk of it before May.
We have a lot of people to prove wrong before the end of this campaign - and we certainly want to prove a point to ourselves after failing so often to get what we deserved from games.
The gap between us and Dunfermline at the bottom is still seven points. Two wins could make a massive difference and we even have a game in hand which has now become vital.
We had about 12 days to prepare for this match under the new manager and we scored again from a set-piece so there is so much inspiration and hope that we can take from the match against Hearts.
We have had so many knocks this season but we just keep coming back for more and there is a real determination among the squad to stay in the SPL.
I was bitterly disapppointed at the chances I had with two headers - especially the first.
It was a free header from a corner and I put in a poor effort which could have given us the lead.
The second header was slightly more difficult and far enough out but I could still have done a lot better.
TV showed we created chances which didn't happen earlier in the season.
We scored twice against a decent outfit and ran them close. And while I'm on my high horse, we should have had a penalty late on when Takis Fyssas fouled Robert Snodgrass.
What is it they say when you are riding high at the top of the table? These things go for you.
When you are rock bottom such as we are, decisions tend not to go your way.
That is not a complaint just an observation but if Livi are to pull off another great relegation escape we know we will have to rely on honest, hard work and the dressing room is full of lads who are committed to that cause.
The season is by no means finished. There are many twists and turns to come and we are still in there fighting.
