GORD HAS EYEBALLS FOR HIGH BALLSBy Gary Ralston HEARTS keeper Craig Gordon turned up at training red-eyed yesterday morning - and it's all down to Nike. No, the sportswear giant hadn't take himfor a boozy night out to discuss a new sponsorship deal. The Scotland star is being used as a guinea pig for a new set of contact lenses that helps prevent the sun streaming into a keeper's eyes. Gordon said: "I first wore them in pre-season when we played St Pat's. Nike have been developing them ever since and they've come up with the finished article. "I don't wear contacts but these are very comfortable and are better than a cap, which doesn't always keep out the sun. "The contacts help block out the rays and make the grass really stand out on the pitch so you can pick out the ball even better. "The colours on some opponents' shirts change colour but thankfully I still see maroon. "I'll keep wearing them in training before using them in a proper game. "I don't mind if it makes me look like I've enjoyed a night on the batter - they might even put strikers off." |
